Dieting doesn’t work, so, what does? (1/3)

You’ve tried crash dieting. 

(probably 17X or more)

And you’ve finally admitted to yourself that dieting doesn’t create the sustainable weight loss or long-term body confidence you’re looking for. 

But, you’re not ready to simply give up on your body composition goals. 

You still want to lose weight and live in a lean, healthy body you feel confident in.

If so, I’m going to share three steps with you that I believe every diet-culture dropout needs to take in order to successfully lose weight (and confidently keep it off) without dieting

This week, we’ll start with step #1. 

Are you ready?

Step 1: Reframe the goal from SUBTRACTION to ADDITION

Dieting often encourages minimizing (or eliminating) certain foods and food groups. And while there is someeee merit to this (many of us can benefit from consuming less sugar, etc.) focusing on what we can’t/“shouldn’t” eat never feels fun and often results in the opposite behavior (eating MORE of those things) in response to restriction. 

The more effective, diet-free step is to ADD instead of subtract. 

Did you know that 90% of Americans don’t eat enough vegetables based on current dietary guidelines?

And 80% don’t eat enough fruit?

Did you know that up to 25% of American women don’t meet protein requirements? 

Requirements that focus on essential protein - which is less than what’s optimal for most women who are physical active and/or looking to lose weight. 

More than half of the population doesn’t drink enough water,

1/3 Americans don’t get enough sleep,

the list goes on… 

These are all things we can (and IMO, should) be focusing on before we ever attempt to subtract. 

  1. Because it feels a LOT better mentally to “get to” eat/drink/sleep more vs. less, and 

  2. By better nourishing our bodies, the things we wanted to eat less of often reduce as a result
